Currents, Winds and Waves

Climate, wind and oceanographic data for the area are available from AWT (1992a) and Patterson, Britton & Partners, CEE & AWT (1998).

Data on oceanography and effluent modelling (MHL466 1986) indicate:

  • average current velocities in the vicinity of the outfall was found to be 0.1 m/s.

  • directional probabilities of effluent transport - 26% of the time towards Aslings Beach, 37% of the time towards Yallumgo Cove Beach and 37% of the time offshore.
